Construction finally is set to begin this month on planned apartments in Lake Nona’s Medical City in southeast Orlando.
Lake Nona Land Co., an entity related to Lake Nona developer Tavistock Group Inc., is joining forces with Birmingham, Ala.-based multi-family property developer WeldenField to build the Watermark at Lake Nona, a 278-unit apartment complex at 7700 Lake Nona Blvd.
Watermark, slated to open next spring, will be the first rental housing community in the growing biotech cluster of Medical City, which is a 600-acre area within the 7,000-acre master-planned Lake Nona community that houses the University of Central Florida medical school, UCF’s Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences/MD Anderson Orlando Cancer Research Institute, Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute, the soon-to-open Nemours Children’s Hospital, the University of Florida Research & Academic Center, and the under-construction Orlando VA Medical Center.
