Birmingham, AL – BREC Development, LLC and SPM, LLC hosted representatives from the City of Birmingham, Raymond James, BBVA Compass, Alabama Housing Finance Authority and other construction and financial partners for a rededication ceremony to celebrate the completion of renovations to Highland Manor located in the heart of Birmingham’s Southside.
“It was a great day and privilege for us to host the fine companies and people that helped bring this renovation to a successful completion. The residents here will enjoy these improvements for many more years.” said Steven Hydinger with BREC Development.
This two year project consisted of major improvements to the building including roof; windows; a new outdoor lounge area; paint; landscaping; and updated elevators. Each apartment home was completely renovated with all new kitchen cabinets, appliances, flooring and fixtures. The common areas were also updated with new flooring, paint, furniture and many other added amenities.
During the May 3, 2018 ceremony, officials from the City of Birmingham including Councilwoman Valerie Abbott and Director of Community Development, Nigel Roberts, along with Andrea Smith with BBVA Compass and David Young from the Alabama Housing Finance Authority, were among those who spoke about the impact of this development on the community. Highland Manor is a 16-story apartment building featuring 111 homes for seniors, 62 years of age and older, and those who are mobility-impaired. These homes feature a fully-equipped kitchen, living room and bedroom, as well as grab bars in the bathroom and an emergency call system. Rent is based on income and utilities are included in the rent.
