Birmingham-based SPM, LLC to Manage New Urban Style Apartment Homes at the Historic Thomas Jefferson Tower.

SPM, LLC is pleased to announce the addition of one of Birmingham’s most historic landmarks, Thomas Jefferson Tower, to its growing portfolio of apartment communities.

Located at the western edge of Birmingham’s vibrant central business district, the 20-story TJ Tower is being restored and transformed into 96 one and two bedroom urban-style apartment homes, as well as 28,000 square feet of restaurant, retail and event space.

TJ Tower presents an urban feel and modern amenities including a state-of-the-art fitness center, game room with HDTV, business center, 24/7 valet parking, cyber café, and an outdoor terrace with resident lounge. Homes range from one bedroom efficiencies from 500 sq. ft., to our more spacious two bedroom, two bath specialty suites from 1,600 sq. ft. Interior amenities include a stainless-steel appliance package, pendant lighting, natural concrete flooring, European gloss kitchen cabinets, quartz countertops and islands with waterfall edge detail, all-in-one washer and dryer unit, and beautiful 360views of the city.

Along with residential, TJ Tower also features 28,000 square feet of commercial space including a large, ornate ballroom. This retail and event space is located on the first and second floor with leasing managed by Kathy G and Company. The brand new, Roots & Revelry Restaurant (R&R), occupies 5,000 square feet and is located on the first floor. A fun, energetic tribute to American Cuisine, the R&R is operated by Birmingham chef and restauranteur Brandon Cain of Saw’s Soul Kitchen and Post Office Pies in Avondale. Additionally, there will be another 5,000 square feet of boutique retail space available for lease.

The general contractor is Stewart Perry Construction. Commercial leasing services are provided by Hydinger Stewart & Chew Commercial Properties, LLC and residential property management services are provided by SPM, LLC. Pre-leasing on residential and commercial space has begun, with a grand opening planned for late summer 2016.


Originally built in 1929, the Thomas Jefferson Hotel had 350-rooms and is best known for having the world’s last zeppelin mooring mast on the rooftop, which will be preserved in the new project. The historic landmark’s luxury status at that time made it a prime attraction for celebrities and distinguished guests, including Presidents Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover, entertainers Jerry Lee Lewis and Ray Charles, and sports icons Pete Rose and Alabama Head Coach Paul Bear Bryant.
